Last summer, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) announced that it intends to continue to recognise the current EU requirements for CE marking for 18 product areas indefinitely.
Due to requests from industry parties, the UK government is now expanding the scope of continued recognition of CE marking for an addition of three product areas: Ecodesign, explosives for civil uses and (in most cases) the rules for the reduction of hazardous substances in electrical equipment (RoHS).
The UK government intends to legislate on the recognition of the CE marking during the spring. This will provide companies with the flexibility to use either the UKCA or the CE mark on a wide range of products in the UK.

Areas where other rules continue to apply include medical equipment, construction products, marine equipment, products for railways, funiculars, transportable pressure equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles.
